Clove oil, is an essential oil extracted from the clove plant, Syzygium aromaticum.



There are three types of clove oil

  • Bud oil is derived from the flower-buds of S. aromaticum. It consists of 60–90% eugenol, acetyl eugenol, caryophyllene and other minor constituents.
  • Leaf oil is derived from the leaves of S. aromaticum. It consists of 82–88% eugenol with little or no eugenyl acetate, and minor constituents.
  • Stem oil is derived from the twigs of S. aromaticum. It consists of 90–95% eugenol, with other minor constituents.


Clove oil contains a chemical called eugenol that may help to decrease pain and fight infections.



Uses of Clove Oil

  • It helps to control premature ejaculation.
  • It helps to prevents Anal Tears.
  • Application of clove oil or clove oil gel directly to the skin can repel mosquitos for up to 5 hours.
  • Applying a gel containing ground cloves for 5 minutes before being stuck with a needle can reduce needle stick pain.
  • Clove oil and eugenol, one of the chemicals it contains, have long been applied to the teeth and gums for toothache.
  • Controls Dental plaque.
  • Helps to control Vomiting, Stomach ache, Nausea, Gas Flatulence, Diarrhea and cough.
  • Clove oil is commonly used to anesthetize or euthanize.
