It is capable of infecting all stages of insect life cycle including eggs, larvae, pupae, grubs, nymphs, hoppers and adult. The spores of Beauveria bassiana germinates on the insect’s cuticle after getting attached to it. The hyphae of Beauveria bassiana proliferates into the insect’s body and causes mortality through water loss and nutrient loss and various chemical & mechanical reactions,. | Mode of Action | Once the spores of Metarhizium anisopliae come in contact with the insect cuticle, they germinate and penetrate the body of the insect causing mortality through combination of chemical and mechanical reactions and water and nutrient loss. Gradually the insect body gets covered with green mycelium and spores, which gets dispersed and cause subsequent infections. Toxins such as destruxin produced by this fungus causes the mortality of insects. In addition to this, Metarhizium anisopliae contains entomopathogenic fungus which kill termites, termite queen and white grubs. |

| Mode of Action | The spores of Verticillium lecanii are very slim and upon coming in contact with the insect, attaches to the cuticle of insect. They produce hyphae from germinating spores which penetrate the outer protective layer (integument) of the insect thereby infecting it. Gradually the internal content of the insect is destroyed and the insect dies. Further, the fungus eventually grows out through the cuticle and sporulates on the outside of the body. Infected insects will resemble to white cotton like particles. |
